Conclusion: Jesus is our peace
Monday, June 22nd, 2009CONCLUSION
Jn 16:30-33
Now we understand that you know everything and do not need someone asks you. Therefore, we believe that you have come from God. "31 Jesus replied," Do you think now? 32 There comes a time, yes, it is now, when ye shall be scattered and go to their rooms and let me be left alone. Yet I am not alone, for the Father is with me. 33 This I have told you that you may have peace in me. In the world you have tribulation. But be frank, I have overcome the world! "
What does it mean to trust that Jesus has overcome the world? Trust in Jesus that he knows everything, he comes from God, that he has overcome the world despite our unfaithfulness. Believe that our troubles in the world gives peace. Really believe it!
Often we do small God and ourselves great. We do not believe that God really can fix things and must therefore do it yourself. We prøveer to gain control.
JESUS IS OUR PEACE
Ephesians 2:12-14a
Remember that time you were without Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel, with no part in the covenants and promise, even without hope and without God in the world. 13 But now in Christ Jesus, you who were far away, come near, because of Christ's blood. 14 For he is our peace
Remember that you ever had ... without Christ, without hope of heaven, with no civil rights in Israel, with no part in the covenants and promise. In short, without God in the world. But now are ye in Christ Jesus ... come close because of Christ's blood!
Hope is a longing for something that is far away. We must remember that we did not even have hope of heaven. The sky was unattainable, unavailable, with no chance to get there ... But now we are close ... This is the essence that it is important to understand. The contrast between "then" and "now". When we understand this. we understand the essence of God's peace: Jesus is our peace. "There is no way to peace. Peace is the Way "(Mahatma Gandhi). There is more truth in what he said, than he realized ... Jesus is our peace.
SUMMARY
- Jesus has given us his peace, which is something totally different than world peace.
- God's peace is in all respects unnatural and illogical, but it is not unattainable.
- We can practically work for peace through:
- Openness to God through prayer.
- Humility to one another through discipleship.
- Kindness to all through good works.
- But in the end peace is to have full trust in Jesus, despite all the troubles we see around us.
